The Cobb
Bringing Out the Best in a Building
A LANDMARK’S LEGACY MAKES FOR A LASTING FOUNDATION
Personality is everything. That goes for buildings as much as it does for people. We all want to live somewhere with character, finding solace in a retreat that opens our hearts and minds.
The Cobb is just that.
Originally opened in 1910 as a collection of medical and dental offices, The Cobb was an instant icon. Only the third building developed on the The University of Washington’s Metropolitan Tract, for which it now stands as the only surviving structure of those 10 acres, The Cobb was a cornerstone of Seattle’s metropolitan rise.
Nearly a century later, The Cobb was repurposed, repositioned, reimagined, and reopened as high-end apartments in 2005. A few years later, Blanton Turner took over its management, much to our absolute delight.
Our team embraced The Cobb for the spectacular sight it had always been. We didn’t necessarily want to remake, rework, or reinvent its look. The Cobb was already a catch — an entirely unique Beaux-Arts style building in the epicenter of downtown. We simply wanted to highlight its finest qualities.
Before we even came aboard, we knew The Cobb offered a sophisticated, Manhattan-like aesthetic in a beloved Seattle structure, making for a truly breathtaking home. With that, we sought to renew its legacy.
Bringing out the best of what had long been there, we put The Cobb’s story at the forefront of its branding. We brought in a lively management staff to add personality to the building. We hired a maintenance staff that took great pride in its upkeep. We gave residents an experience that would otherwise come with an upscale condo.
Today, The Cobb puts its residents in a setting unlike any other building in Seattle. Located atop the University Street light rail station, our tenants are able to readily hop to their favorite hot spots around the city and return home to their water or city view, their studio or penthouse, and their definitive place in Seattle’s architectural history.
